Chief Gender and Digital Officer

Alex Tyers-Chowdhury is a gender x digital inclusion specialist. Alex's specialty is the gender digital divide, and she has worked on research, policy, and MEL for digital programming, as well as on-the-ground implementation. She particularly enjoys creating digital products and services for women and girls across Africa, Asia, and Central America. This includes many years living in Bangladesh building digital solutions (IVR, app, TV, web) for adolescent girls.; Alex is currently the Product and Partnerships Lead for Oky, the digital SRH products for girls is live in 12+ countries.

Alex’s areas of expertise and interest include:
- Women and girls’ meaningful digital connectivity in emerging markets
- 'GenderTech' and designing for a female user journey
- Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), research and insights for mobile & digital services in emerging markets
- Edtech and mobile learning (especially IVR)

Alex has lived and worked around the world, gaining extensive experience in digital inclusion across regions such as Asia, Africa, Central America, and the Middle East.

Currently based between Malaysia and Bangladesh, Alex has previously collaborated with organizations such as GSMA, the Gates Foundation, USAID, BBC Media Action, the Web Foundation, UNICEF, UNCDF, WHO, Girl Effect, GIZ, and the World Bank, as well as several mobile operators and an Edtech start-up.
